There are four recognized doberman pinscher colors RED & RUST, BLACK & RUST, FAWN, and BLUE & RUST. White is not a color, but rather a genetic defect.
The four recognized Doberman Pinscher colors are black, blue, red, and fawn, where blue is a dilution of black, and fawn is a dilution of red.
All four colors are recognized and can compete in all AKC sanctioned events and shows. All four color variations can compete in other sports such as French Ring, and Schutzhund. Blues will most likely have some sort of skin problems. The white Doberman is considered to carry the albino gene. The problem with the albino gene in mammals is birth defects including poor eyesight, deafness, and a hypersensitivity to direct sunlight
In 1980’s the white Doberman made it’s appearance and it has been found that white colored Doberman Pinschers is an albino gene, not just white in color. Albino Dobermans have blue to pink eyes stemming from lack of pigmentation.
White colored Doberman Pinschers are disqualified from competing in the conformation ring.
